Whatever the reason for needing to monitor the weather, you may as well do it on your Android. After all, you have probably spent a lot of your hard earned money on your Android mobile device, so it is only fair you use it for something other than email, SMS and games. Speaking of hard earned money, you will be glad to read that all of these apps are free (at the time of writing). These free apps are even better than the free weather app you have embedded into the side of your house (aka a window), because these apps tell you what weather is predicted as oppose to how the weather is right now.

This will allow you to see daily details such as when the sun is going to rise and set, and will show you different forecast data too. You can store as many locations as you like for easy access later, and you can see local forecast summaries. It holds information on more than 2.7 million places. You can use the data to come up with your own forecasts.

Met Office Weather Application:

This is a weather forecasting and monitoring app, except that this one was created in Britani. It gives weather forecasts for different areas, and you can save any of your favorite locations so that you may check up on them every day. You can gain access to weather reports every day, and you can see the severe weather warning for each area too.

Gismeteo Weather Forecast LITE:

This is the LITE version and it is a free app that allows you forecast the weather in a large number of locations around the world. You can see forecasts up to 48 hours in advance, and it has widgets that you can use on your Android home screen. You can switch over very quickly and see your favorite locations, and you can see storm alerts too.

The Weather Channel:

Believe it or not, this app tells you all about the weather (there is a shock!). The app has TruPoint(sm) forecasting technology, as well as additions from 200 meteorologists every day. It is using similar data that the weather men and women are using on TV (most apps do this). The app has very accurate mats, future radar imaging and past radar imaging. It even had cyclone tracking and a “storm support” system.

MyObservatory:

This gives you your own personalized weather reporting system. It shows you weather information from the meteorologists near you, and weather data from the weather stations near you. It gives you all the standard details such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind speed and wind direction. You can figure out your personal weather conditions from the data given.

It has active weather alerting systems, follow me support and GPS search capability. You can use its point-cast function, and obtain very current weather forecast. Originally viewed as an adult site by many, especially when it advertise hot and humid conditions. Sadly (for some) it is actually a weather warning device that is German in origin. It has GPS positioning, an animated rain radar, and a current weather forecast. It also has a seven day forecast too, which is updated every morning.

This app has an exclusive DTAs that gives out severe weather alerts. It has lots of features such as enhanced interactive maps and the ability to pinpoint visual forecasts. It has “my location” and social sharing. There are lifestyle forecasts and live weather cams. You can use push notifications and see their location summary page. It works for Android phones and tablets and you can save a seemingly unlimited number of locations.

ilMeteo Weather:

This little app will allow you make your own forecasts of the weather based upon the information that it provides. It uses things such as satellites, real-time weather monitoring and webcams in order to give you the information you need. It also has geolocation which enables you to monitor the weather from almost anywhere on earth.
